How much time will I need off work after surgery?
Recovery time varies depending on the type of procedure, your job duties, and individual healing.
- Many patients can return to light-duty or desk work within 1–2 weeks
- Physically demanding jobs may require additional recovery time
Your surgeon will provide personalized guidance and work-status recommendations specific to your procedure.
When can I drive after surgery?
Driving restrictions depend on the procedure performed, whether your dominant arm or leg was involved, and medication use.
In general, patients should avoid driving for at least one week after surgery and should not drive while taking narcotic pain medications. Your surgeon will provide specific guidance based on your situation.
When can I resume exercise or physical activity?
Return to activity is individualized and based on your diagnosis and treatment plan.
Some patients may begin gentle motion early, while others may require a structured rehabilitation program. When appropriate, you may be referred to physical therapy to restore strength, motion, and function. Your provider will outline safe timelines for return to activity, exercise, and sports.
